A bit of a departure from my usual work. The title refers to both the creation of a red gemstone from simple crystal and also a return to painting for me, although in a style completely different from my earlier career, when I painted photo-realistic street scenes on canvas. Maybe not a strict definition of alchemy but it seemed to fit.
The center pendulum support is turned from maple to a diameter of less than 1/16″ at the base.
